The Amazon Prime show, Daisy Jones and the Six, based on the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid is jam packed full of 1970s eye candy. In this post we’ll focus on the main character’s bohemian style. Daisy Jones outfits are so fun and easy to embody and because the 70s are so on trend today, you’ll be able to recreate Daisy’s look with a few pivotal pieces.
I just finished the 10-episode series on Amazon Prime Video, Daisy Jones and the Six which is based on best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The series was incredible and I highly regret not reading the book first. The book paled to the series but I think it would’ve been different if I had read the book first. Honestly, I think that’s a testament to how well done the show really is.
Daisy Jones and the Six is in interview form and documents a fictional band trying to make it big in the 70s. Eventually the band moves to Los Angeles and meets Daisy Jones, an aspiring singer/songwriter. They quickly find she’s an incredible match musically with their lead singer, Billy Dunne played by Sam Claflin. Turns out the combination of Daisy and Billy is a volatile one with huge egos and forbidden attraction. As the band rises to fame the usual complications occur with sex, drugs and rock n’ roll creating an incredibly interesting story line that sizzles on the small screen. This Prime Video series is a great watch. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book is brought to life by incredible actors, sets and costumes that embody the popular culture of the 70s.
While it was never confirmed, the story line seems to be a loose comparison to Fleetwood Mac. The Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham similarities are pretty obvious. Daisy definitely has Stevie vibes and shares her great style!
The TV show has 4 female characters-Daisy Jones, Billy’s wife Camila Dunne, Simone Jackson (played by Nabiyah Be) and keyboardist Karen Sirko (played by Suki Waterhouse). All four women have incredible 70s style that I think translates into a look that can be easily pulled off today. Each character embodies a different style. Karen’s look is reminiscent of Suzi Quatro and Chrissie Hynde while Simone’s look is reminiscent of Chaka Khan and Donna Summers.
Costume Designer Denise Wingate sourced high and low to find the most authentic pieces. What she couldn’t find via online vintage shopping and flea markets, Denise used current brands like Free People and Spell and the Gypsy. Taking inspiration from Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt, Daisy’s outfits captured the time period perfectly. Be sure to check out Camila Dunne’s outfits (played by Camila Morrone) that were inspired by Ali Macgraw and Bianca Jagger.
In this post, I focused on Daisy who is a free spirit, creative, egotistic young woman who, once you get to the soul of the matter, just wants to be accepted, seen and loved. She also has major rock star, gold dust woman energy. Daisy Jones is played by Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley.
With a killer full album you can listen to on Spotify, the fantastic 70s fashion and decor, incredible acting, in-depth character development and suspenseful story lines, I highly recommend watching Daisy Jones and The Six on Amazon Prime!

Daisy Jones Outfit Staples:
Daisy’s style is truly unique in the fact that she dresses in a way that perfectly represents her free spirited personality. There are no rules in the wardrobe of Daisy Jones. She wears whatever she wants even if it’s a men’s button down as a dress. Her style is truly bohemian and romantic with a twist of edginess. On stage she is most similar to a young Stevie Nicks with dramatic pieces like a Halston cape, hot pants and bold eye makeup. In the recording studio she’s all rock-n-roll with fur coats and knee high boots. Her red hair adds to the drama of her look. Daisy doesn’t play by any rules and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She’s all about the expression of her music and that shows in her carefree boho style.

Daisy Jones Outfits: I’ve rounded up all Amazon Prime items for this “Steal the Look” post. If you’ve spent more than 5 minutes on this blog, you know 70s style is my favorite and this was not a hard post to pull together. In fact, Daisy’s outfits are similar to my Stevie Nicks post. I always love a vintage flare to all my personal looks and could care less if something looks costumy or kitschy. After all, life is too short to not dress how you want to dress!
- Sunglasses-Nothing says the 70’s quite like a pair of oversized rose colored sunglasses! These are similar to Gucci sunglasses but much more affordable.
- Western Black Leather Belt-I shared this belt in my Beth Dutton post, I have a similar one and love how versatile it is. It makes the biggest statement when worn with a boho dress.
- Afghan Coat-I have been wanting a coat like this for so long! They are hard to come by and best if you can find them in a thrift shop or Etsy but this one has a great look. I bought 2 of these coats on Shein. HERE is the second. I can say they aren’t the best quality but I love them. They are both true to size. The one linked and pictured is the coat I’ve worn all winter.
- Cowboy Boots-In the beginning of the series, Daisy wears several different pairs of cowboy boots with cut off shorts or hot pants. I shared these in the Beth Dutton post as well and have had my eyes on them for a while. I bought them for my daughter and I and we both agree that they are very comfortable. They hold up well and we both have worn them to several different events.
- Lace Kimono-Love this full length lace kimono plus it comes in several colors and it can double as a swimsuit coverup!
- Lace Vest-This vest gives a very boho look and could be paired with jeans or even a dress. I won this and can vouch for it’s quality.
- Sequined Fringe Shawl-This shawl perfectly reflects Daisy’s stage wardrobe and while it’s not really for an everyday, versatile look, it sure would make a statement!
- Squash Blossom Necklace and Earrings-I love squash blossom necklaces and this one also comes in turquoise. It’s a great price as well. Daisy wore it with an all white look during a photo shoot. It makes a very boho, retro statement.
- White Shirt Dress-A couple times in the series, Daisy wears a men’s shirt as a dress. This one gets good reviews and possibly could be worn in several different ways. It’s a very versatile piece.
- Metal Chain Silver Belt-This belt makes a bold, boho statement and I love it! It’s also only $9!
- Tapestry Hobo Bag-I found this slouchy bag and new it was definitely Daisy friendly!
- Knitted Halter Top-Daisy wears several knitted tops. This one seems a little less revealing than most of the ones I found but probably a pass for me. I wanted to include it anyway. It screams retro!
- Cut-Off 501 Levis-Cut off 501s are definitely a staple if you can pull them off. Daisy is seen wearing them in several scenes and typically with cowboy boots.
- Turquoise Ring-This is a fake turquoise ring and I totally had to buy it. It’s really pretty and so cheap! Daisy wears quite a few in the show.
- Silver Moonstone Ring-Love this moonstone ring. Plus, it comes in several different stones. It looks like great quality and has good reviews.
- Sequined Bell Bottoms-How great are these? Around the holidays I saw several women wearing them and making them modern but I love the vintage look. They definitely remind me of Daisy’s concert looks especially the final concert scene.
- Kimono-I shared this kimono in my How to Style Flared Leggings post. It might be the best Amazon find I’ve found in quite a while that is actually very affordable. Have you noticed Amazon’s prices have gone way up lately? This kimono is gorgeous in person and the colors are so perfect for capturing Daisy’s vibe.
- Saddle Bag-Daisy is seen with a bag similar to this one. The flip top and hardware give it a very vintage look.
- Gold Hoop Earrings-hoop earrings have passed the test of time that is for sure. Every decade wore them and they are prominent on Daisy. These are stainless steel with a gold over-lay.
For those of you who love 70s style, many of the popular fashion trends of that decade are back today and so easy to find. The key to pulling off a retro look is to pair statement pieces like wooden platform sandals, kimonos and fur lined coats with simple, basic pieces like a simple t-shirt and/or your favorite pair of jeans. For instance, I’m not going to wear a Penny Lane coat with bell bottoms. I choose one, not both. However, fashion is a great form of self expression and it really depends on what you feel good in. Because after all, if you like it, that’s all that matters. I found so many great ideas watching this series and really feel good about the pieces I have founded up.
This show was so good, I’ve already rewatched it twice. If you haven’t seen it, you must. It’s well done and easy to follow. If you’re like me and love 70s fashion and rock n roll-you can’t go wrong!
xx, Jenni
