Stevie Nicks Outfits Recreated!

Sharing is caring!

I’m starting a new series where I take a fashion icon and modernize it by linking up easy to wear pieces today! My first and probably favorite is the bohemian style of Stevie Nicks. I’ve been on a real Fleetwood Mac kick lately and have been pouring over photos of Stevie and her distinct signature style. She was fabulously fashion forward to say the least. With that famous black top hat and low backed deep v-neck body suits she radiated a carefree yet mysterious vibe. She effortlessly wove boho chic with a witchy twist. So let’s get in touch with your inner Stevie and journey back in time to discover how to recreate Stevie Nicks 70s inspired outfits!

Style Icon Stevie Nicks

The 1970s were a time where the boho/hippie look was very much prominent. Bell bottoms, fringe, turqouise jewelery, floppy hats and platform shoes were all on repeat. The 70s represented a care-free vibe that was less structured and more flowy for most women. With Women’s Lib in full swing, women were expressing themselves freely in many new ways.

Stevie Nicks took the hippie/boho style and kicked it up several notches by adding witchy elements with a splash of rock in roll swag. The Gold Dust Woman was known to wear all black, flowy outfits while haunting the audience with songs like Rhiannon and Silver Springs. Stevie’s music and style were in perfect harmony.

It’s quite easy to recreate Stevie Nicks outfits by grabbing a few key pieces. Amazon makes it easy to find unique pieces without spending a lot of money. Plus, don’t you just love how easy it is to return whatever doesn’t work?!

Boho can go one of two ways. There’s the boho look that is bright, light and summery. Then there’s the boho look that is dark, moody and sexy. Stevie is definitely the second. Through out her early days with Fleetwood Mac as well as her rich career as a solo artist, Stevie embodied the bohemian vibe turned witchy. Stevie’s unique look is a mix of what was popular in the early 70s with a prominent other worldly vibe.

Since I love focusing many of my posts on the free spirit style of the 70s, I’m focusing this post on the Rumours-era. Stevie’s Fleetwood Mac days where she and front man/boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham battled their rocky breakup front and center stage for all to witness was definitely a memorable time. Each song on the Rumours album came out of lost love, betrayal and final goodbyes whether it was written by Stevie, Lindsey or Christine or John McVie who were also going through a divorce during this time. My guess is, that’s what makes this album so magical. According to Fleetwood Mac concert goers during this time, the tension was palpable.

Time cast a spell on you, but you won’t forget meI know I could’ve loved you, but you would not let me I’ll follow you down ’til the sound of my voice will haunt you Give me just a chanceYou’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you

-Silver Springs

During the Rumours days, Stevies stage outfits were typically black and flowy and topped with a top hat which became synonymous to her iconic style. She layered lace and kimonos and wore sky high platform knee high boots. Scarves were also added and often she was spotted with a few layered necklaces and occasionally wore turquoise bracelets and rings.
