Faux leather leggings are made as comfortable as a pair of workout leggings. Throw on a denim jacket with a plain white tee and tennis shoes or an oversized sweater with knee-high boots and you’ve got a cute outfit for a casual look. Nothing elevates a simple sweater or tee like faux leather leggings. Whether they are for everyday wear or a night out, it’s easy to pull a look together with these fantastic leggings!

Leather leggings can be worn all year around, no matter the weather. Faux leather pants are one of the most versatile statement pieces you can add to your wardrobe. Whether you are going for a sophisticated look or athleisure is your vibe, leather leggings are one of my easy go-to looks that keeps me on trend every single time I wear them.

Are Spanx Faux Leather Leggings Worth It?

I’ve been wearing leather leggings for years. I fell into the trap of buying Spanx leggings several years ago. I can honestly say Spanx leggings are not worth the extra cost.

I typically wear a large in leggings so that was the size I bought. I sent them back for an XL. The XLs are so tight they upset my stomach. I will say, I am very sensitive and do not wear tight clothes well due to stomach issues. Spanx were so terribly uncomfortable and I felt I could only wear them for a couple hours at a time.

I have tried many different dupes on Amazon but the best dupe I’ve found are from Walmart! They look identical to the Spanx leggings but are much more wearable and only $15 bucks. They are easy to pull on and while they are tight, they don’t hurt after wearing them for hours. They come in brown and black and I have both. I am wearing my usual size and while I still will wear the Spanx here and there, I almost always reach for the Walmart leather leggings.

I 100% believe you can get a great pair of leather leggings without spending $100+.

Fun & Unexpected Pieces to Wear w/ Leather Leggings:

  • Baseball cap
  • Boyfriend Blazer
  • Oversized Sweatshirt
  • Denim Jacket
  • Lace Cami
  • Long Cardigans
  • Kimonos
  • Vests

Shoes to Wear with Leather Leggings:

I can not think of one style of shoe to wear with leather leggings that wouldn’t work. I love adding a pair of sneakers for a comfortable look. Combat boots add to the edginess of the leather. Throw on a flannel and pull of that 90’s look! I’ve added sandals to leather leggings in order to continue wearing them throughout the summer months as well. Heels give the leggings a sexy/dressy look.

The Boho/Edgy Style:

I would classify my look as predominantly boho but once in a while I like to throw an edgy piece of clothing in with the peasant tops and dresses and eclectic jewelry. Often times the edginess comes from a shoe or moto jacket but mostly it comes from my faux leather leggings. I love the 2 styles together because it is unexpected and both styles are quite opposite of each other. I’ve been known to throw a studded heel and flannel with a boho top or a moto jacket with a flowy floral dress.

18 Boho Outfits w/ Leather Leggings:

This leather leggings outfit is a casual but comfy one. Quilted jackets are so popular right now and I have several but this one is my favorite. It is a free people dupe. I found it for way less HERE. I added a simple white waffle knit button-down. These brown leather leggings are a departure from the regular black and I love wearing them. I slipped on fur lined mules so this outfit could not be comfier!

I love wearing kimonos in the winter. Sometimes it’s not that easy to winterize them but with a ribbed turtle neck, this thin, short kimono works. The dark brown leggings make sense with the colors in the kimono. I went casual with tan riding boots. Don’t be afraid to mix colors in the same family!

I will admit this is a preppier look than my usual but I love a classic cable knit sweater. For an extra layer of warmth and interest I added a simple denim shirt. The brown or black leggings would both work with this look. To add a bit of femininity, I wore nude pumps. Chunky knit sweaters with pointy toed heels are one of my favorite combos.

This pink quilted vest is paired with a simple oversized white button-down and the brown leggings pair perfect to edge up the look.

I paired a summery lace tank top with a chunky, cream cardigan. I love pairing my suede, slightly over the knee boots with the brown leather leggings. Pairing different textures and colors on top of each other is a perfect way to create a classy look.

A fun boho top is a great combo with leather leggings. These lace up Minnetonkas aren’t for everyone but I love to find ways to wear them without looking like I’m going to a Halloween party! Again, pairing suede on top of faux leather adds layering interest that elevates your look. Unfortunately, this top is sold out but I linked a few more that are similar.

Pairing leather leggings with a cozy sweatshirt and tennis shoes is a great way to show off contrasting looks and be super comfortable in the process. The more contrasting pieces you add to your look, the more interest you create. I love this cozy quilted jacket for extra warmth, plus it gives this look a bit more of a pulled together look. My white sneakers are super comfortable and can be worn with anything.

I’ve been on a mission to “dress up” a plain gray sweatshirt. Again, unexpected pieces pair together to create an interesting look. I added a ton of necklaces and my favorite coat of the season! This faux fur coat is part of my favorite purchases from 2023 and is so well made and warm. The leather makes this look a bit dressier and the cozy fur lined loafers complete the vibe. The clutch and coat make this look easily acceptable for night wear. This look is a great way to look pulled together without the discomfort of uncomfortable shoes and clothing.

Kimonos are definitely my thing so this look is no surprise but I love the all black base with this flowy, girly pop of color! When in doubt-go all black and add a pretty top layer. It’s slimming and hides insecurities yet looks sleek and put together every single time.

This look was from a much older post. I love the eccentric crane kimono and again I’ve created an all black base with a black cami, black leather leggings and black pumps.

I took this picture years ago but still love this look. I have searched high and low for this white with black lace satin top with no luck. I did link a few similar options though. I paired a embroidered Mexican bag to contrast the look.

I love a fun vest and paired this faux shearling vest with a white button-down top. The brown leather leggings are unexpected as are the riding boots.

This dress is so cute but too short so I decided to put my Spanx leggings with it and a pair of embellished booties for warmth and coverage.

Unfortunately this kimono/top is sold out but I paired it with a simple white top and brown leather leggings. I rounded out the boho/edge look with a pair of clogs.

This kimono is sold out too but I’ve linked a few others that are just as cute. I put a simple cream top/tunic with leggings. This is an example of wearing leather leggings in the warmer months. It totally works!

Here is another very old athleisure look that you could even work out in.

I’m not a huge graphic tee person but I do like this look with a flannel and fuzzy jacket. I wore chunky black booties but would also pair this look with Converse.

This is also an older look but I love it. The top is very old Free People but it is all over Ebay HERE for way less. I pulled out the snakeskin for my accessories and a Moto leather jacket for a very edgy/boho/chic night out.

I live in leggings. Day to day when I’m at home working plain old leggings work but the days I have an appointment, meeting or lunch date, leather leggings keep me in my faithful, comfortable leggings but fine tune my look without sacrificing comfort.

Turning a look into a boho style is super easy by adding kimonos and jewelry. In fact, I like to keep things basic but then add excitement with colorful accessories as finishing boho touches.

I hope you’ve enjoyed all of my outfits for leather leggings!
