Elegant Halloween Party Ideas for Adults

Sharing is caring!

Are you planning to throw a Halloween party but don’t know where to start? I’ve been all over Pinterest collecting Halloween party ideas for an elegant adult party and I’ve got all the bases covered. From how to decorate, what to drink, eat and listen to, this post will help you plan a killer spooky shindig!

My Elegant Halloween Party Tips:

  • Black Candles-Place them everywhere that they won’t catch people on fire. Find candle holders everywhere and paint them black. I get my black candles at Hobby Lobby when they are 50% off but you can also find them on Amazon. You can also use THESE battery powered black candles for safety.
  • Turn overhead lights OFF! Soft lighting is key! Nothing kills a party quite like bad lighting. Plus, it’s weird and awkward to be in full costume in a bright space.
  • Another party killer is no music. Find my hand picked Halloween Party Spotify Playlist below! It’s over 4 hours worth of upbeat music with a Halloween theme in mind!
  • If weather permits, keep windows and doors open to allow for air flow and more space for guests to mingle.
  • Create seating and comfortable areas on your patio or porch.
  • If space permits, create a photo op area with a background and props.
  • I like to turn on a classic scary movie with the volume on mute. A few favorites are Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Shining, Scream or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Make sure your streaming service isn’t going to play commercials though!
  • Make your food table easy. Meaning, keep to finger foods that aren’t messy and awkward for guests.

Beautiful Tablescapes & Spooky Decor Touches:

Over the years my Halloween decor has gotten more and more subtle. A realistic fake snake here, a few black candles there, replacing wall art with Halloween themed prints etc. So for a party I don’t feel the need to go overboard. However, placing fake cobwebs everywhere is a great idea. You could also throw white sheets over furniture. Fog machines are also a cool touch. As I stated above, nothing says Halloween without being campy like a large amount of candles.

For the food table, candles are a must but I also like to use dried roses and other florals in black vessels. I also love cabbage. It screams fall and creates so much texture. Once you start looking for darker florals, you’ll realize there are so many ways to make a centerpiece look dark yet beautiful.

Death By Blackberry Cocktail
So Happy You Liked It

This cocktail is titled, “Death by Blackberry” and is a rum based drink with blackberry liquor, soda water, pomegranate juice and angostura bitters. It looks gorgeously inviting and at the same time like it could be poison.

Of course I do realize all the cocktails I’ve shared are bartender worthy and would be hard to serve at a party. There are many easy punch ideas and of course setting up a bar with beers and wines is an easy way to leave it to your guests to get what they want when they want.

Simple Happy Foodie

Some Halloween parties have games but I prefer to leave the games to the kids. However, I did read somewhere that someone turned all the lights off except for one candle and the guests that had a ghost story held the candle and told their story. I love this idea! I hope this post has inspired and pointed you in some direction for your next Halloween party!!

xx, Jenni
