Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorite things to do. This year I leaned more into fall decor and even more subtle Halloween decor. Over the year, I collected more vintage items perfect for cozier, fall weather.
This year I continued to collect vintage items found at 2nd hand shops and FB Marketplace. I also discovered THESE mice that are so realistic and perched so subtly on my new candelabra.
As usual, I brought all the crows. I perched a few on my entryway light fixture and a few on a wreath. I layered faux ferns from Hobby Lobby on the light fixture as well and created a new arrangement using twigs and branches around the house as well as Hobby Lobby faux stems. I added battery operated lights as well for a little whimsy!
Nosferatu (large painting) is back and makes a big splash in the entry way. I painted him many years ago and he is asked for each year by my family-he’s a welcome part of Halloween decor each year!
I once again collected limbs and a dead tree for a lit display on my dining room table. I added more butterflies than last year. I’m not so sure this is giving the spookiness I intended so I’ll probably change it up next year. I do recommend THESE gorgeous butterflies though. I’m definitely very inspired by the movie, Crimson Peak with the moth and butterfly additions.
I scored a real bat that I mounted in a shadow box. I love him! I placed a paper map behind him, channeling Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Coppola version). I found THIS little bat as well.
I collect wasp nests, snail shells and dried bugs and frogs all year and found THESE real butterflies. They are stunning!
I also love the little fingers peaking out of the record player. They are fun between books as well!
Candles and pumpkins will always be a staple and make a big impact without being too over the top.
I downloaded THIS masked lady on Etsy, printed her in 11×14 and matted her in a frame. I think she turned out so pretty!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this year’s decor. Fall is moving too fast for me with not enough cool, dreary weather! Hopefully this next week will be a beautiful end to October. My husband and I put several movies in a bowl and we draw each night we want to watch a movie-it’s been so much fun! However, we’ve got a lot more movies to go!
Happy Fall, Jenn
