Halloween in My Home in 2024

Sharing is caring!

Halloween was extra subtle this year in my home. As you may know, I’ve evolved over the years when it comes to Halloween decor. I’m really into little, creepy moments that may not even be noticed if you’re not looking for them. Gone are the days where I’m over the top cheesy or trying not to scare my kids. My girls are now 13 and 16 so it’s a miracle if they notice anything anyway! This year I took my time and ended up adding pieces at the last minute rather than doing a large amount of editing which is my typical mode of operation.

Enjoy my subtle Halloween decor and don’t forget to check out this blog’s entire Halloween section for more Halloween decor inspiration, tons of Halloween costume ideas and a few spooky playlists as well!

Years Past Halloween Decor:

I found these life like spiders decades ago and was hoping to scare my family but no one took the bait. I found THESE spiders that are similar.

I LOVE these black fingers that fit between 2 books. With the right angle, they are super creepy! I also like to swap out some lamp shades for black ones. At Home has great ones.

I found this butterfly skull at Ross this year. Don’t discount Ross for Halloween, especially in early September. They have some unique items. I also found a silver bowl with small skull supports that I didn’t picture but I am shocked at the quality! Also, I keep this tray of well loved candles out all year but candles are such an easy way to create a spooky vibe.

As usual, my Nosferatu homemade art has made his appearance but this year he’s front and center in the entry way. He’s weird and perhaps a bit basic but it’s not October without him.

Target has brought back their gold snake candelabras and they don’t disappoint. I missed out last year but snagged 2 this year! I’ve had my mini clay sugar skulls for years but found them on Etsy HERE.

Every year I watch Bram Stoker’s Dracula the Francis Ford Coppola version. I hate to admit that I’ve never read Dracula all the way through. This year I found the coolest Dracula Wordsworth Classics edition so I’m hoping this is the year I finish it!

I love collecting dead nature throughout the year around our property and then display them in October. This year I added a few more snail shells and scored a praying mantis! Is that weird? lol.

This rubber snake is so realistic. He comes out every season but I find a new place for him each year.

I love this alligator head from the Bayou! I think he’s quite ominous nonchalantly perched between books! He may be little but he’s mighty!

I doubled my crow population this year and decided to perch them on the window sill. I did scare everyone with the placement of them this year. Mission accomplished! Both of my daughters and husband thought they were real at first glance! I love decorating with crows. It’s very Edgar Allen Poe. Can you spot fat Archie, our 18 lb. cat?

I hope you enjoyed my home this Halloween!

xx, Jenni
