Lived in chic is what I call these coffee table decor pics. I am so inspired when someone can design their home decor around how they live and how a particular piece of furniture functions. I come from a world where everything was neat and tidy and whatever was on the coffee table or console was not to be touched. My mother knew if a book had moved an eighth of an inch. Don’t get my wrong, my interior designer mother has always created a beautiful home but once I moved out I began to sort out what my own individual style was and I will say it’s taken decades and I continue to evolve and change my mind. One thing I have come to love though, is going to someone’s house and feeling like I can get to know them just by their home. I love a cozy, lived in home full of treasures that define themselves and where they’ve been.
A coffee table is a place to not only be an opportunity for decor but also a place of functionality as well as personality. Whether it’s coffee table books you love, candles, plants and even oddities from nature, a coffee table should reflect how you live and make living comfortable. My coffee table looks best with a cup of tea, vintage books I’ve read or am reading, messy candles and a few trinkets. It’s inviting and even tells a story from time to time.
I fight decorating my home visually rather than realisitcally if that makes sense. I come by it naturally but until recently it’s always been beauty over comfort. It dawned on me how much I enjoy seeing other people’s well lived in homes. Plus, while my daughters don’t really question my decor choices, my husband does. He needs comfort, minimal femininity and a normal table to rest a book and a drink on. I guess that’s not too much to ask. lol.
Coffee Table Decor Options:
- Trays of all sizes
- Flowers or plants
- LED chargeable lights
- Books or magazines
- Candles
- Matches or lighters
- Coasters
- Trinkets from travels
Ask yourself, what do I do when sitting on the sofa? I watch tv, I light candles, I read, I drink drinks and sometimes I just reflect. Once you figure out how your coffee table functions then you can choose items that help it function while throwing in a few items that simply please your eye.
I hope you enjoy these coffee table decor pictures and find a little inspiration of your own. A home can function well and be beautiful at the same time. That’s the goal, right?!
